News

  • 3DO at Winter CES 1994 - Page and half article covering 3DO at the Winter CES in 1994. It talks about Sanyos machine (Which was on display and working), AT&T's machine also on display (be it in a case). It stated that AT&T were to release two versions of the machine by Autumn, one with Voicespan and a modem and the other a bog standard 3DO. Crystal Dynamics were showing 3 games, Total Eclipse, The Horde and Off World Interceptor. The article states there were 23 developers on show, including Naughty Dog, Tetragon and PF Magic as well as games such as Jurassic Park and Road Rash. The article was positive about 3DOs show, and also include some info about the MPEG player. They were so positive about Trip Hawkins at the press conference, saying he stumbled and couldn't say how many machines were sold to date. (Pages 10 & 11)
  • Attract Mode - Total Eclipse - Small pictures of the intro to Total Eclipse and how Edge were impressed (Pages 12 & 13)

  • Most Wanted - Two games appear on the top 5 "Most Wanted", this includes Star Trek The Next Generation and Jurassic Park (strangely Rise of the Robots appears for a 2nd week!) (Page 19)

Reviews

Game Title Publisher Reviewer Pages Pg No(s) Rating
Total Eclipse Crystal Dynamics N/A 3 58-60 7
Night Trap Virgin Interactive N/A 2 64-65 5
  • Total Eclipse - It's hard to criticise a game that looks and moves as well as this, but it's the way it plays, as well as the way it looks tnat matters. At the end of the day you don't feel like you really ‘have’ to play Total Eclipse, instead you feel more compelled to have a session with it.
  • Night Trap - Night Trap does have an intense atmosphere and has converted quite well, but it's just that it's, well, Night Trap. With the limitations of the CD it was never a brilliant game on Sega's machine, and sadly the same can be said of this 3DO version.
