Panasonic Reduces Suggested Retail Price of REAL 3DO Multiplayer as Distribution Channels, Software Library Expand

SECAUCUS, N.J., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Matsushita Consumer Electronics Company (MCEC) today announced a $100 reduction in the suggested retail price of the Panasonic FZ-10 REAL(TM) 3DO(R) Interactive Multiplayer(TM) system. The new suggested retail price is $299.95.

The FZ-10 will continue to come bundled with the hit software title, GEX, from Crystal Dynamics.

The reduction in suggested retail price comes as the 3DO format enjoys continued strength in the marketplace. The Panasonic unit is available in over 9,000 outlets, encompassing new, expanded distribution channels, and the library of 3DO software continues to grow rapidly. Over 200 titles are currently available for the Interactive Multiplayer, with 185 more in development. Panasonic Software Company alone has published 15 titles, with at least 10 more scheduled for introduction before Christmas.

"The acceptance of 3DO as the first and foremost 32-bit system has resulted in a worldwide upswing in sales," says Gene Kelsey, assistant general manager, Interactive Media Division. "Combined with the support of retailers and the software industry, Panasonic is well-positioned to enter the fall selling season."
