MCA/Universal Merchandising Grants License Rights to Produce
Software Based on Forthcoming CASPER Movie

Irvine, California-- Interplay Productions and MCA/Universal Merchandising, Inc. announced an agreement which grants Interplay the rights to develop and produce video game software based on the forthcoming CASPER film. The agreement is the first in a series of projects between the two companies to be announced this year. While the details of the video game are under tight wraps, Interplay is using the actual images from the movie to generate the artwork.
"We are excited to partner again with Interplay Productions as their expertise and knowledge of the entertainment software industry takes video games to a new level of game play," says Nancy Cushing-Jones, executive vice president of MCA/Universal Merchandising. "CASPER makes for an exciting and entertaining product and we look forward to the success of its video game software."

"The CASPER movie's extraordinary special effects, combined with the popularity of this highly-recognized character, will easily make the transfer into a unique and imaginative entertainment title," said Brian Fargo, president of Interplay Productions.

Scheduled for release Memorial Day weekend, Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, Universal Pictures and The Harvey Entertainment Company bring CASPER to life on the silver screen with an innovative combination of live-action and computer-generated graphics making for a "spooktacular" ride for all ages. Interplay will develop the game based on the CASPER movie utilizing its knowledge and background as producers of cutting-edge entertainment software. The CASPER game will be developed for a wide range of new 32-bit gaming platforms, including 3DO, Sega Saturn and Sega 32X.

CASPER is licensed by MCA/Universal Merchandising, Inc. which licenses and markets properties worldwide on behalf of Universal Pictures, Universal Television, MCA Publishing Rights, as well as third-party products. Some of those properties include "Jurassic Park," "Apollo 13," "Balto," "Waterworld," "Earth 2," "seaQuest DSV," "Baby Huey," "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle & Friends," and "Woody Woodpecker & Friends."
