  • Saturn 2 M2 - Half page article about rumours of Sega opting for the M2 for an upgrade for the Saturn. As well as Philips being rumoured to adapt the CD-i, this is shot down by 3DO Europe Marketing Director John Edelson who did confirm they do speak to Philips quarterly but nothing is set in stone (Page 6)
  • Goldstar Touches Down - Half page article about the Goldstar machine launching in the UK via a small press party on the 27th Feb 1995 at the Museum of Moving Image (Page 7)

Features

  • 3DO World - Two page feature of games from Japan, including Jurassic Park, Seal Of The Pharaoh, Shadow, Montana Jones, Murphys Law and Yu Yu Hakusho. Montana Jones is mentioned to get a Western release (Pages 10-11)
  • Bob Faber Interview - Full page interview with 3DO Europes Managing Director, very generic interview covering points of his career and some usual soundbites of the M2 (Page 12)
  • Robert Lindsey Interview - Full page interview with Studio 3DOs SVP of Marketing, he mentions about games being developed and in house, brings up NHL Hockey, Virtual Baseball and potentially a new FIFA game from EA, 11th Hour From Virgin, Disruptor 7 from Universal and Doom 2. Interesting mentions that no M2 development kits had been shipped, but as there is alot of cross over with 3DO development tools and an early access system which emulates what the M2 can do it wont be an issue for developers. (Page 13)
  • David Morse Interview - 2 Page interview with the Producer at Crystal Dynamics, quote "We are just starting to do stuff in that area" when asked if he is developing M2 games (Pages 14-15)

They were currently stress testing it. He also states they are working on two modem games and if the 3DO Modem "Which will be launched later this year", is successful they will be released on that. Also has NHL Hockey, but shows a pic of the SNES version. Other mentions include FIFA, John Madden and Need For Speed (Pages 28-29)

Reviews

Game Title Publisher Reviewer Pages Pg No(s) Rating
Striker Rage Software Mark Wynne 2 34-35 5
Gex Crystal Dynamics Dave Westley 3 37-39 5
Myst Panasonic Dave Westley 2 40-41 4
Cannon Fodder Sensible Software Dave Westley 2 42-43 4
  • Striker - No doubt there's going to be fanatical debate over which is better, Striker's sheer pace pitted against FIFA's slick presentation. With no 8- player option, Striker can't compete with FIFA for getting a crowd of players around your 3DO at the same time.
  • Gex - Gex is without a doubt the best thing to have happened to your 3DO in a long time. It's rare for a platform game to have the strong graphics and gameplay to justify long term interest
  • Myst - Though these criticisms might sound minor they do have quite an effect on gameplay. Myst is one of those products that's very much a package - relying on its individual elements to combine to form a coherent whole.
  • Cannon Fodder - 3DO allows to provide a landscape that oozes colour. Sprites are more animated - especially the birds that fly overhead. The departure from the Amiga and PC to a console also means that the game can now be played on a TV.
