Research Overview

Walker - ABS (Advanced Battle System) was a planned sequel to the popular Amiga game Walker. Neill Glancy & Ian Dunlop the original developers spoke about the planning of the sequel on the podcast "Arcade Attack Retro Gaming Network" on July 4th 2024.

The game would of been upgraded and more dynamic than its predecessor due to the 3DO's graphical capabilities. And would of had features such as streaming backgrounds (rather than static) - This would of helped make the walker move in different directions, RPG style customisable weapon upgrades (This would of been controlled via a management screen with 9 slots - This included grenade or rocket launchers, but also more "out there" weapons such as Terinmators).

There was also a "business progression" aspect, where you started the game as a new employee, but as you progress you rise in the ranks

Unfortunately both the developers left DMA Design in 1993, before the game got past the design stage. So only the conceptual plan, functions and art ever existed.
